Dublin

Always a fun city

Waiting to taxi

Amy dropped us off at Logan Express in Framingham. The 3:30 bus was waiting, but it was already full. We were one of the first onto the 4:00 bus.

Traffic into the airport was pretty good. Terminal E. Security was quick. We got waters at the Hudson and sat down near gate E15. I went back to the Hudson for a turkey sandwich, grapes, pistachios. Gwyn tried to get a salad but they all had parmesan cheese. So she got a breakfast sandwich and ate the inards. We checked into the gate to have our passports scanned and the bags tagged. Play airlines needs to check that they will fit on the plane.

They just have general boarding, so we were one of the first on the plane. The A320 NEO is a bit cramped. The plane took off, and it was a pretty smooth flight. We tried to sleep, but it was not easy. The seats were very close, and if you leaned back it was bad. The guy in front of Gwyn did, and she eventually asked him to put it up a bit. He did.

Flying

We landed and could go out both front and back. Put on our rain coats and walked to the bus. In the terminal it was empty. Nothing is open. Waited a bit for our gate, and went down the escalators to D22B.

The flight to Dublin was 2 hours. We landed. Went to buy the Dublin Express tickets. The Leap cards were in another store across the way, but they did not have the Leap visitor cards. Walked down to Zone 1 to catch the bus. We got on it, but found at the next stop it was the wrong one, so we got off and waited. Took the bus to the 3arena stop and got off. Walked to the Becket Locke and dropped our bags off, and headed into Dublin Center. Uncle Rodney and Aunt Margy were staying at the Hampton hotel, so we headed off that way on the tram. We got off and waited a bit, but then walked to a Spar to get a Leap Card. They did not have them so we went back to their hotel to wait for them.

Aunt Margy and Uncle Rodney

They arrived and put their bags away, and then we headed to The Old Storehouse for lunch. Very yummy, with live music. We then wandered around looking and catching up. Saw the Molly Malone statue and a busker was there playing. Walked over to a Caffè Nero and had a snack. Uncle Rodney enjoyed the hot chocolate. We walked back to the Ha'penny Bridge and went our separate ways. Walked to the tram and the Greek football supporters were getting on going the other way. We saw them in the Temple Bar area earlier. The Garda were making sure there was no troubles.

The pay station was not working, so we got on anyways. There was an Irish guy that we chatted with as we went along. Stopped at the Fresh and got supper. Back to the Locke to get our bags and check in. Supper, showered and then to bed.
